Afghan Belouch 'Kelleh' Circa mid 1900

246cm x 96cm this 'kelleh' being a term for a wide runner or long rug from the traditional sizes would have been made for the tribes persons own use.  Madder and indigo and the dominant colours due to historically being the cheapest and most accesible dyes. The ivory hi lites the design of the stylised gul encased in the tile design throughout the rug.
