A lively piece keeping the eye moving and the viewer wondering.  Woven by 2 weavers side by side this would have been woven by the women of the tribe as they tended the sheep, looked after the family and cooked.  Designs are passed down through the family and from within no graph is followed. Hence on the initial view it looks symmetrical but with a closer look nothing is quite balanced.  The animals are elongated on one weavers side if at all, a bird versus a dog can be seen if at all.

This adds to the rug, keeps it alive and thought provoking.  I always love restoring a tribal rug as I like to start with the smallest hole and work my way through as I get to learn and understand the weavers.  When they might have been tired or angry, lost concentration or just simply chose to stop what they were doing and weave a different motif.  Sometimes this is seen with a simplification of design when the weavers realise they need to finish as they will soon be migrating to a their summer or winter camp and vice versa.  All this is reflected throughout the rug and I like to get inside the head of the weaver to know what has caused the damage and how to restore it to its best.

This piece in my opinion is woven by technically skilled weavers, as it has a lot of movement, colour variation and is filled with motifs, only possible by a competent weaver.
