Hand Knotted Antique Persian Tribal Qashqai 196cm x 157cm

This rug is circa 1920 and lost its original outer end borders, is low in areas but generally in great condition for its age.  Deep dark colours pop with the bright madder red on the indigo medallion flanked by ivory and black multi coloured borders which flow with stylised repetative motifs.  Inside the main medallion the motifs either side of the middle are pomegranites often used in this region not only as  a source of food but for finishing washes to tone the colours.
