Sarkoy Kilim Circa late 19th Century
235cm x 179cm. An exquisitly fine example of a decorative sought after antique kilim. If only they still made things this beautiful. The rich cochineal field with the deepest of indigo and ivory detailing in the multiple tree of lives are just beautiful. Tiny elements of pistachio green and soft lemon yellow are seen in the dog tooth weave in the knarls on the trunk. Turkish Sarkoy weaving is fluid and soft in shape and structure leaving the usual strong geometric shapes behind.
