Persian Mahal Wagireh or sampler 84cm x 64cm Circa 1900

What a find!  A wagireh is a sampler so this little gem was produced to see if the scale, colours and design would all work well to produce eventually a much larger carpet.  The design is an all over lozenge design bursting with flowers both inside the lozenges and linking them to give this all over repeat design.  The very outer border on the ends has been reduced but this still retains the original size it would have been.  The top left corner could be rewoven but is currently secure.  Gorgeous in colouring with the rich madder, gold, green and ivory tones set on the deep dark grey.
