B24-2-23-28 Persian Malayer Circa 1910
A great example of an early chemical dye with the hot red typically used in this region near Hamadan, Iran. The main central medallion and field are both filled with the garden trellis or herati design flanked by 3 main borders of almost equal scale flowing with stylised flowers and paisley motifs. The original kilim is seen at both ends although could benefit to being restored on all the edges. Otherwise evenly low all over and being on a cotton foundation capable of taking heavy traffic still.
