F23-2-3-3 South West Persian Qashqai
This rug is evenly low all over and with some minor old restoration. Its one of my own personal favourite all over Mehzidhi design with a continuous tree of life and plenty of floating chickens. Great movement of colour throughout and all the elements of a good tribal rug, almost symetrical while not. A visual feast and thought provoking great tribal rug. Look at the white lozenge bottom right how it is similar to a chequer board while the one top right is random floating stylised flowers. This would have been woven by 2 weavers, can you decide which was the more experienced? Look at the use of the handspun 2 tone warps, were these guidelines as to the centre of the rug, the edge of the design and beginning of the borders?
