A fine example of a traditional Turkish rug, a region which sadly is no longer producing hand knotted rugs on a commercial scale this is a great find.  The brown has slightly corroded which is typical of this dye and era due to the iron mordant (fixative) used to stabilise the dye.  
In my opinion this lifts the rug and retains its soft decorative palate.
Finely woven and filled with motifs and decoration this rug draws the eye into the centre. 
The traditional Mehrab or prayer arch design which is surrounded by the soft gold and ivory tones are almost like a multiple frame around the madder prayer arch with the incense seen hanging in the entrance and the jugs of water to absolve ones feet on entrance into the mosque.  A beautiful rug!
