Traditional Rug 180 x 104cm

A traditional naieve tribal rug, in onion skin toned field showing the abrash or dye bath changes and the popular chemical dye of orange which is used a lot in this region.  Why wouldn’t one want to cheer up the brown and endless view of desert by some brighter tones.
A triple stylised medallion flows through the main field pushing out to the borders with floating stylised geometric motifs.  The inner guard border has a repeat triangular design often seen in kilims fro this region which is then lifted by the ivory vase motif and simple flower motifs in the outer border.
This rug has a lot to offer the viewer despite its simplicity in design and palate.
