Qashqai Jijim 250 x 115cm
Jijim also spelled Cicim, is a flat woven cloth, hanging or blanket on a narrow strip possibly back strap loom which are then sewn together.
Identifiable by their multi coloured woollen warps and striped or block designs. Additional patterns maybe knotted in to ward off the evil eye, or embroidered motifs for pure decoration.
Incredibly strong and make great throw on a sofa or modern characterful picnic blanket. Here the addition of tassles along the sides are a good use of brightening up what may have hung on the camel while migrating while also a great practical use of finishing off the ends of wool left over.
This example has quite a tartan feel.
