Tulu means long haired in Turkish and were traditionally woven in vibrant colours using soft mohair wool.
Historically used by tribes people for the purpose of keeping warm and sleeping.
They are produced by hand, knotted in the Ghiordes (Turkish or symmetrical) knotting style.
They can be identified by their artistic details and luscious texture.
Every Tulu rug pattern is unique, but they are mostly based on flowery or vinery designs with something solid or plain for a centre piece and usually woven with a combination of vibrant and earthy tones for balance.
