Afghan 200 x 110cm

At first glance a simple quite standard Afghan rug. Bold with the large multiple central ‘guls’ or elephant feet design and simple in colour which has faded beautifully to this soft onion skin tone.
Standing back one can see the movement in dyes with the subtle abrash (dye bath change) almost halfway through and the movement throughout with the clever change in dominance of blue within the tile geometric border. The central elephant feet have a beautiful central square format of the barber pole and triple flower petals which is repeated in the perimeter of the guls. Organised simplicity at its best.
