Woolen foundation is very elastic and Tribal rugs may have different spins of yarn and have shrunk at various rates.
ASSESSMENT
Next the damaged areas will be checked that growth or Rot have not spread due to Cleaning and the techniques to be used are discussed within the team occasionally determined by the origin of the piece.
SPIN OF THE YARN
The correct count of the spin of a yarn is vital. Is it S spun or Z spun, 2 ply or 4, cotton, linen, wool or silk. Each of these factors have to be determined and met before an invisible repair can be achieved.
VALUE
Depending on the Value and Origin of the Carpet, as each Production varies from a tight solid depressed warp and weft as in a Bidjar, to a floppy loose Kurdish or Lori weave. Use the wrong weight and it will hinder the ability to beat the carpet sufficiently and leave a finished repair floppy or taut.
COLOUR MATCH
Regarding colour matching, in the unlikely event we are unable to source the correct colour match from our vast range of Imported pre dyed wools, we will dye using our selection of natural fleeces and natural dye plants from around the world.
WHAT TO CONSIDER
When considering the final cost while achieving successful restoration, often the main factor involved is the final location of the piece.
High traffic area, a stronger choice of material will be needed.
